"ব্যস্ত?" — ছোট্ট এই প্রশ্নটা ফোনের ওপাশ থেকে ভেসে এলে গলার কাছে যেন কী একটা দলা বেঁধে যায়। কী বলব? বলার মতো অবসর কি আদৌ আছে? দিনের আলো নিভে গেলে অফিস ফুরোয় বটে, কিন্তু চিকিৎসকের দিন শেষ হয় না কখনো। ওয়ার্ডের বাইরে পা ফেললেও মাথায় ঘোরে সিলেবাস, সামনে ঝুলে থাকা একটার পর একটা পরীক্ষা। ব্যক্তিগত জীবনের খাতা খুলে দেখলে অবাক হতে হয়—সেখানে যেন শূন্যতার পাতাগুলোই বেশি। উৎসব, অনুষ্ঠান, পারিবারিক আড্ডা—সবই রয়ে গেছে পেছনে, স্মৃতির কোনায়। ভ্রমণ তো বহু দূরের স্বপ্ন, রাস্তাগুলো যেন শুধুই হাসপাতাল আর বাসার মাঝেই ঘুরপাক খায়। আমরা ডাক্তাররা কি রিজার্ভড? হয়তো হ্যাঁ। কিন্তু সেটা স্বভাবে নয়, সময়ের টানাপেড়নে গড়ে ওঠা এক আত্মরক্ষার প্রাচীর। কেউ জানে না, রাত গভীর হলে কেউ না কেউ কোন না কোন হাসপাতালে কোন জীবন বাঁচাতে ব্যস্ত। আমি হয়তো এখন লিখছি, কারণ আমার সহকর্মীরা এই মুহূর্তে কাউকে না কাউকে বাঁচাতে ছুটছেন। তাই কাউকে আর আগের মতো উদ্দীপনায় বলি না, “ডাক্তারি পড়ো।” পেশাটা মহান, তাতে সন্দেহ নেই। কিন্তু এই মহানতাটার দাম চোকাতে হয় নিঃসঙ্গতা, আত্মত্যাগ, আর বিরামহীন ব্যস্ততার মাধ্যমে।

আজ ৭ এপ্রিল, পালিত হচ্ছে বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য দিবস। বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা (WHO) ১৯৪৮ সালের এই দিনে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছিল, এবং সেই থেকেই প্রতি বছর ৭ এপ্রিল বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য দিবস হিসেবে পালিত হয়ে আসছে। এ বছরের প্রতিপাদ্য— “Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures” , যার ভাবানুবাদ করা হয়েছে— “জন্ম হোক সুরক্ষিত, ভবিষ্যৎ হোক আলোকিত” । এই প্রতিপাদ্যটি মূলত শিশু, মাতৃত্ব ও নবজাতকের স্বাস্থ্যকে ঘিরে গঠিত। একটি নিরাপদ জন্মই পারে একটি শিশুকে সুস্থ জীবনযাত্রার দিকে এগিয়ে নিতে। পাশাপাশি, মা ও শিশুদের স্বাস্থ্যসেবা নিশ্চিত করাই একটি আলোকিত ভবিষ্যতের ভিত্তি। বিশ্বজুড়ে আজও বহু শিশু জন্মের সময় এবং পরবর্তীকালে নানা স্বাস্থ্যঝুঁকির মুখোমুখি হয়। তাই এই বছরের বার্তা হচ্ছে—প্রতিটি শিশুর যেন নিরাপদ ও স্বাস্থ্যসম্মত পরিবেশে জন্ম হয়, এবং জন্মের পর প্রয়োজনীয় যত্ন ও চিকিৎসা পায়। একইসাথে গর্ভবতী মায়েদের পুষ্টি, স্বাস্থ্যপরীক্ষা ও সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধির ওপর গুরুত্ব দেওয়া হচ্ছে। স্বাস্থ্য একটি মৌলিক অধিকার। তাই সরকার, স্বাস্থ্যকর্মী, পরিবার এবং সমাজের সকলকে একসাথে কাজ করতে হবে যেন জন্ম থেকে শুরু করে জীবনের প্রতিটি ধাপ...
